State Supreme Court could draw future congressional districts

The Wisconsin Supreme Court could draw the new state legislative districts if justices choose to hear a case brought by state legislative Republicans. 

 

 

 

Politicians and the public criticized both the Florida and U.S. Supreme Courts for making what they believed to be political decisions during the disputed 2000 presidential election. 

 

 

 

The majority of debate between Democratic and Republican lawyers revolved around whether the U.S. District Court would be better suited to hear the case.

A U.S. District Court three-judge panel will hear a similar case concerning congressional redistricting for Wisconsin on April 2 and 3.
