In concurrent actions Wednesday, state Republicans presented a map outlining new legislative districts to a federal redistricting panel, while state Rep. Scott Walker, R-Wauwatosa, and state Sen. Bob Welch, R-Red Granite, introduced a bill containing the exact same map, in the state Assembly.
State Democrats presented their own map to the federal panel Wednesday, according to a statement from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Chvala, D-Madison.
Both Welsh and Walker said in a statement the main points of their map were that each district would have equal population, provide for minority strength, preserve current communities and provide stability for the state.
