According to a Towers resident and UW-Madison sophomore who asked not to be named in this article, the disturbance Saturday was not an isolated instance of violence for either group. The sophomore added that some of the participants in the incident were UW-Madison football players.

""What I was told by the people involved is that [Wednesday] night around 3 in the morning ... they were awoken to their mopeds being pushed over by some guys and [the Towers residents] went down there to stop them and I guess the guys tried to beat them up,"" she said.

""[The police] have not gotten ahold of us with any details of the investigation,"" he said. ""At this point we have not been brought into the situation. There was an incident on our campus. Period.""

""Bar time on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, anyone familiar with Langdon Street would tell you it's not that uncommon for fighting to be happening on that street,"" he said, adding that he expected this event to raise awareness of the general issue. ""Neighborhood safety on a Big Ten campus is a big concern.\
