The Associated Students of Madison Shared Governance Committee began interviews Tuesday for five students to serve on the Dean of Students search committee, one of whom will be co-chair of the committee. Shared Governance Committee Chair Bryan Gadow said he estimated 30 to 40 people submitted applications to be interviewed. Fifteen were interviewed Monday with the remainder beginning at 4 p.m. today.
Gadow said he was not surprised by the number of students applying only that many turned in applications close to the deadline.
\I think that getting 30 to 40 is going to benefit students in the long run because it's going to give us more choices to examine and look at when we make our final decision,"" he said.
Gadow added the committee bases its decisions on whether the student has had or will have any significant interaction with the Dean of Students' office, and how well rounded he or she is.
The shared governance committee will announce its selections at the ASM meeting Thursday.
