Orgs plan relief for earthquake victims

Multiple student organizations and the local Red Cross chapter have plans to help victims of the recent earthquake in India. 

 

 

 

More than 20,000 people may have died, and more than 30,000 suffered injuries, in the Jan. 26 quake. 

 

 

 

Gautham Rao, of the Indian Student Association, said the ISA has preliminary plans to work with other student groups, including the Indian Graduate Student Association, to raise funds to send to UNICEF and other organizations to help survivors of the earthquake.

The Madison chapter of the American Red Cross is also soliciting cash donations to help the disaster victims. Gifts can be made over the phone at 227-1289 or over the Internet at http://www.redcross.org.
