Many current UW-Madison students have never seen the Hagenah Fountain turned on, however, after a six-year dry spell, the fountain on Library Mall started to flow again Monday.

The inevitable closure of the Southeast Recreational Facility—commonly known as the SERF—is quickly approaching. The UW-Madison Division of Recreational Sports announced Friday that the popular facility will officially close Aug. 18.
The goals of the workshop included having the participants challenge one another and acknowledge that no one is at the same place in understanding the constructs of race and white supremacy. However, it was noted that the participants would leave with a better understanding of how whiteness affects one’s interactions on a daily basis.
This year, three UW-Madison students out of the 1,286 total nominated from 470 institutions received the Barry Goldwater Scholarship to award their excellence in science and mathematics.
Though it has many misconceptions, nuclear energy has many benefits, according to award-winning author Michael Shellenberger, who discussed the topic in a lecture Tuesday. Shellenberger, a pro-nuclear environmentalist has co-authored multiple books, including “The Death of Environmentalism,” “Break Through,” and “An Ecomodernist Manifesto.” He has been an advocate for environmental and social justice for more than 25 years. His lecture, part of the Distinguished Lecture Series, pertained primarily to the issue of clean energy resources and the use of nuclear power and energy.
Matovich has noticed the rising cost of college in comparison to previous years, which led her to kickstart this campaign. She noted that there is not much information to explain the spike in tuition fees. With more transparency, Matovich believes that the campaign can make a better assessment of how to critically evaluate tuition spending.
