In order to shake off last week’s struggles and return to early-season form on Nov. 23 against Purdue, the Wisconsin defensive unit will have to make sure to shut down freshman WR David Bell. With Purdue’s star freshman receiver from last year, Rondale Moore, out since Sept. 28 with a hamstring injury, Bell has had to adapt to a starting position and facing opponents’ #1 cornerback.

After beating the Minnesota State (2-5-2-2 WCHA, 6-5-2 overall) 3-2 last night in a tight game, the No. 2 Badgers (5-1-1-0 WCHA, 11-1-1 overall) came out on top today to finish out their weekend series against the Mavericks. Wisconsin is undefeated its last 20 games at LaBahn Arena with an 18-0-2 winning streak coming into this weekend’s home series.

Earning itself a year of bragging rights, Wisconsin (3-1) handed in-state rival Marquette (2-1) its first loss with a score of 77-61. The Golden Eagles fought to keep the game within reach, but after an MVP performance from senior guard Brevin Pritzl, the Wisconsin-Marquette narrative was changed.

Another week, another trophy matchup in the Big Ten West as No. 14 Wisconsin (4-2 Big Ten, 7-2 overall) faces off with Nebraska (2-4 Big Ten, 4-5 overall) Saturday in the sixth edition of the battle for the Freedom Trophy. The trophy, named to honor United States veterans, depicts half of Camp Randall Stadium--built on a Civil War training ground--and half of Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium with a large American flag in the middle.

In parts of three seasons at Wisconsin, Jonathan Taylor has cemented himself among the many legendary running backs in program history. Saturday was just another day at the office for the perennial Heisman candidate, having his way against a strong defense in No. 13 Wisconsin’s (4-2 Big Ten, 7-2 overall) 24-22 victory over No. 18 Iowa (3-3 Big Ten, 6-3 overall) at Camp Randall Stadium.
