Former Badger Montee Ball arrested on tentative charge of substantial battery

Former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball was arrested Friday morning on tentative charges of substantial battery, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.

According to the State Journal's report, Ball was arrested at the Hampton Hotel and Suites on 440 West Johnson St. in Madison after police were called to the hotel early Friday morning. The caller, Ball's girlfriend, alleged the former Wisconsin standout pushed her into a table, which cut her leg.

Ball graduated from Wisconsin in 2013 and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent two years with the Broncos before being waived by the team prior to the 2015 season. He signed with the New England Patriots' practice squad in mid-December.

More details will be included as they are made available.
