Corey Clement

Clement cited for two counts of disorderly conduct

Junior running back Corey Clement has been cited with two counts of disorderly conduct stemming from a Nov. 8 incident that left him with a cut on his hand, according to a Wednesday release from the UW Athletic Department.

Per the statement, the athletic department was aware of the “possibility” that Clement would be cited for disorderly conduct when it released a statement Nov. 12 detailing Clement’s involvement in an off-campus incident at his apartment building. The new release stated the Nov. 12 statement “was based off of information that we had at the time.”

The statement continues, “with the release of the full police report today, further details on the incident have come to light.”

The Wisconsin State Journal obtained the full 44-page report from the Madison Police Department Wednesday on Clement’s involvement in the incident. According to the State Journal’s article, “Madison police this week said… Clement threw the first punch in a Nov. 8 dispute with a  group of individuals at his off-campus residence.”

Now that Clement has been cited, ”any disciplinary measures taken by UW head coach Paul Chryst relating to this incident are undetermined at this time and will be handled internally.”

Clement’s season has been hampered by injuries. He underwent sports hernia surgery in September and did not play again until Wisconsin’s Oct. 31 game against Rutgers. Clement did not travel with the team to Maryland for its game against the Terrapins the following week and he played sparingly against Northwestern Nov. 21.
