Badgers beat Michigan for best start to season in over 20 years

The No. 13 Wisconsin Badgers (4-0-0 Big Ten, 8-2-1) are on absolute fire with their best start to conference play in more than 20 years, remaining unbeaten through four games. The Badgers took on their latest opponents; the tough No. 24 ranked Michigan Wolverines (8-3-1, 3-1-1) at home this Thursday and emerged victorious in a confident 2-0 victory.

Jaskaniec header lifts Wisconsin over Penn State

After having their Friday evening match against Ohio State postponed due to weather, the No. 19 Wisconsin Badgers (3-0-0 Big Ten, 7-2-1 overall) were able to take the field on Sunday against the Penn State Nittany Lions (2-2-0 Big Ten, 6-5-1 overall), winning the match 1-0.  

Sophomore forward Lauren Rice was able to strike a perfect shot two minutes into overtime to give the Badgers a win.

Wisconsin falls in Sweet Sixteen to No. 1 Stanford Cardinal

After blazing through the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament with victories over the AAC Champion Memphis Tigers and the CAA Champions Hofstra Pride, the No. 23 Wisconsin Badgers women’s soccer team (6-2-3 Big Ten, 14-4-4) fell 1-0 to the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal (10-0-1 Pac-12, 20-0-2) in the Sweet Sixteen. In only the second Sweet Sixteen appearance in program history, the Badgers faced the 2017 NCAA champions Stanford in Palo Alto.

After 6-0 demolition of Hofstra, Badgers face the No. 1 seed Stanford in Sweet 16

The Wisconsin Badgers women’s soccer team (6-2-3 Big Ten, 14-3-4 overall) looked to be heating up after a 3-0 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament over the AAC conference champion Memphis Tigers (7-2 AAC, 17-4 overall). The Badgers officially caught fire in the second round as they demolished the CAA conference champion Hofstra Pride (6-2-1 CAA, 16-6-1 overall) with a stunning final score of 6-0.

Wisconsin loses on the road to OSU to end the regular season

The Wisconsin Badgers women’s soccer team (6-2-3 Big Ten, 12-3-3 overall) concluded their regular season with a 2-1 loss on the road against Ohio State (6-2-3, 9-5-3). Both teams entered the game in good form with Wisconsin unbeaten in its previous seven games and the Buckeyes picking up only one loss over their last 10. Ohio State took the lead in only the ninth minute of the game when a low cross from senior midfielder Eleanor Gabriel found sophomore forward Marissa Birzon behind the Wisconsin back line. With a move taking her past the flying Jordyn Bloomer, Birzon found herself with an easy finish on an open net to put the Buckeyes in front.

Despite playing substantially fewer minutes than her fellow forwards, senior Emily Borgmann sits second on the team with four goals.

Late Spark: Borgmann embracing challenges of super-sub role in standout senior season

The No. 19 Wisconsin Badgers women’s soccer team (5-1-3 Big Ten, 11-2-3 overall) has once again qualified for the Big Ten tournament and has plans of qualifying for the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive season. Maybe it’s just a case of being a year older and wiser, but there is one more factor to Wisconsin’s elevated play this season: super-sub senior forward Emily Borgmann.

UW held at home to two scoreless draws

After 220 minutes of play in three days, the Wisconsin Badgers women’s soccer team (2-1-3 Big Ten, 8-2-3 overall) could not settle the score in their two home games as both games resulted in 0-0 draws that were not dull despite the scoreline. Wisconsin faced off with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-0-2 Big Ten, 7-1-4 overall) Friday afternoon after the game was postponed from Thursday night.
