Wisconsin returns home for senior night, Valentines Day date with Rutgers

Coming off of a heartbreaking defeat on Sunday at Nebraska, the Wisconsin women’s basketball team (2-11 Big Ten, 9-17 overall) returns home Wednesday night for senior night to welcome in the struggling Rutgers Scarlet Knights (6-7, 18-9). In doing so, the Badgers will look to surpass their win total from each of the last four seasons. In UW’s loss last Sunday, it came down to a simple inbound pass with 5.2 seconds.

Ariana Saghafi has improved drastically as the season has progressed.

Wisconsin seeks Big Ten title in highly contested meet

After a regular season full of ups and downs including a Big Ten Record for sophomore Beata Nelson and the departure of one of their captains, the No. 21 Wisconsin women’s swim team is ready to put its last four months in the rearview mirror and move to the penultimate point of its season – the Big Ten championships. “It’s always an exciting time of the year because everyone’s always rested and ready to do some special things,” head coach Whitney Hite said.

Wisconsin comes out flat to Michigan as early mistakes prove costly

After No. 20 Michigan’s (9-5 Big Ten, 20-7 overall) win over Wisconsin (4-10, 11-16), Wolverine head coach John Beilein said that one of, if not the most important point of his team’s defensive gameplan was to prevent Badger redshirt junior forward Ethan Happ from scoring 40 points. Happ finished with 29 points, 11 below Beilein’s target, and Wisconsin, as a team, lost by that very same margin, 83-72.

Badgers look to carry early season momentum to West Coast

The Wisconsin men’s tennis team will attempt to win its first matches of the spring season away from Madison this weekend, when it travels west to face some unfamiliar foes. After an encouraging weekend that saw the team go 2-0 at Nielsen Tennis Center and push its record to 4-2 on the season, the team will look to build on its strong start.

Wisconsin snaps five-game losing streak with win over Illinois

As the Wisconsin men’s basketball team took to the road Thursday night in the midst of a season-long five-game losing streak, the Badgers (4-9 Big Ten, 11-15 overall) put their faith in the steady hands of Ethan Happ as they dispatched Illinois (3-9, 12-13) 78-69. The redshirt junior forward was the only fully functional aspect of the UW offense against the Fighting Illini, shredding the UI defense from the opening tip to the final whistle.

UW looks for spark from backcourt against Illinois

On December 9, 2017, T.J. Schlundt experienced his first real taste of college basketball. The redshirt junior guard was thrust into Wisconsin’s rotation on short notice, as UW was unexpectedly without both Kobe King and D’Mitrik Trice for its matchup with in-state rival Marquette.

Ward to the Wise: Nassar scandal must inspire schools around country to be more proactive

With the fallout of the Larry Nassar scandal affecting Michigan State, schools in the Big Ten Conference and NCAA in general, schools all over the country are now being held under increased scrutiny in terms of how they choose to respond to misconduct scandals involving their coaches. Nassar’s conviction resulted in MSU’s president and director of athletics both stepping down amidst pressure from the school community, mainly because they allowed Nassar’s abuse to go on for so long, allowing him to harm many more victims.
