Blayre Turnbull was used to playing in front of raucous, sellout crowds in LaBahn Arena. But after her illustrious four-year Badger career concluded last spring, Turnbull traded in her red and white Wisconsin jersey for a red and white Calgary Inferno jersey.
The question marks surrounding the receiver position are nothing new at Wisconsin, but George Rushing’s Spring Game performance showed fans, players and maybe even the coaching staff that the Cardinal receivers can be a productive and deep group in the 2016 season. For head coach Paul Chryst, it was more than just Rushing’s Spring Game that showed he might be ready to step up and play a major role in the Badger offense. “George has worked this spring,” Chryst said plainly.

Fresh off a competitive home series against Illinois, Wisconsin (9-7-1 Big Ten, 24-19-1) takes a break from Big Ten play to host a doubleheader with in-state rival Green Bay. The Badgers won just one of the three games against Illinois, but they had a chance to tie or win the game in each of their losses. Friday’s game one was a back-and-forth contest and it wasn’t until some late-inning Badger miscues gave the game to Illinois.
In the last game of its weekend series versus Illinois, Wisconsin narrowly lost 1-0. The Badgers struggled throughout the game on offense, never once recording more than one hit in an inning.

To say Matt Hutchins has had a whirlwind of a last few weeks is a major understatement. The junior swimmer nabbed three top-10 finishes at Big Tens, two top-six finishes at NCAAs, and was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Year.

At the annual Buckinghams, the Student-Athlete Showcase of Excellence Tuesday night, there were many awards and honors given out, and many student-athletes who showcased their talents, to much applause.
One of the biggest honors one can receive as a student athlete at the University of Wisconsin is the Student Athlete of the Year award. A combination of excellence in academics, athletics and character, the winners of this award must be the total package. This year’s award winners were no exception.
Even after a successful weekend, which saw the University of Wisconsin men’s rowing team win two out of three races over No. 16 Stanford, Monday afternoon, men’s rowing coach Chris Clark was looking for more assistance.

Madison has always been perceived as a biking community, and as the weather has started to turn this spring, that’s all the more evident, with thousands of bicyclists hitting the network of trails that interconnect most of the city.
