Rushing emerges as viable wide receiver threat for UW

The question marks surrounding the receiver position are nothing new at Wisconsin, but George Rushing’s Spring Game performance showed fans, players and maybe even the coaching staff that the Cardinal receivers can be a productive and deep group in the 2016 season. For head coach Paul Chryst, it was more than just Rushing’s Spring Game that showed he might be ready to step up and play a major role in the Badger offense. “George has worked this spring,” Chryst said plainly.

Badgers welcome in-state rival Green Bay to Goodman Diamond

Fresh off a competitive home series against Illinois, Wisconsin (9-7-1 Big Ten, 24-19-1) takes a break from Big Ten play to host a doubleheader with in-state rival Green Bay. The Badgers won just one of the three games against Illinois, but they had a chance to tie or win the game in each of their losses. Friday’s game one was a back-and-forth contest and it wasn’t until some late-inning Badger miscues gave the game to Illinois.

Badgers face tough test in weekend series with Illinois

The Wisconsin Badgers (8-5-1 Big Ten, 23-17-1 overall) will finally get to return to Goodman Diamond this weekend for an extended period of time, as their series against Illinois is the beginning of an eight-game home stand. The homestand was supposed to begin Wednesday with a doubleheader against North Dakota State, but those games were preemptively cancelled due to weather concerns and will not be replayed. Wisconsin will attempt to build on the momentum it has gathered during its last five games, going 4-1 on the road against Big Ten foes Iowa and Minnesota. “This had to have been one of the best weeks in Wisconsin softball since our staff has been here,” head coach Yvette Healy said of the road trip earlier this week.

A combination of excellence in academics, athletics and character, the winners of this award must be the total package. This year’s award winners were no exception.

Wisconsin's doubleheader canceled due to inclement weather

Wisconsin’s Wednesday home doubleheader against North Dakota State has been cancelled due to forecasted poor weather, according to a UW press release. The Badgers (8-5-1 Big Ten, 23-17-1 overall) will now begin their longest home stand of the season hosting Illinois (5-9, 25-18) for a three-game series beginning Friday afternoon. Fresh off a week in which it won four Big Ten games, UW looks to continue its momentum. “This has to have been one of the best weeks in Wisconsin softball since our staff’s been here,” head coach Yvette Healy said in a Monday press conference.
