Federal Wisconsin legislators face decision on intervention in Syria

After President Barack Obama surprised analysts by deferring his decision to intervene in Syria to a vote from Congress, federal representatives and senators nationwide have blurred party lines and undertaken individual efforts to collect information from intelligence reports, experts and their constituents to decide whether they will vote to authorize a military intervention in the civil war-wracked country.

With students less than a week into the academic year, U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., addressed college affordability at a press conference Tuesday at Memorial Union, where he introduced a federal bill that would allow students to refinance their federal student loans.

UW-Madison to send more frequent crime alert emails

University of Wisconsin-Madison students across campus received an email from campus officials Thursday titled, “Timely Warning,” which informed them of serious crimes that took place on and around campus from Sunday to Wednesday, including an armed robbery and a sexual assault.
