Matt’s band is a big fish in a small Pond

Okay, first up: Matt Pond is a person. Matt Pond PA is a band. The singer-songwriter moved from New Hampshire to Pennsylvania in 1998, chose the moniker to reflect his new surroundings, and then formed a band to back him up.

’Shopgirl’ falls short

Sometimes a change of pace is not only befitting for an actor or actress, but necessary to maintain the legitimacy of their career. For the past decade, Steve Martin has been involved in a plethora of clunky comedies. 'Shopgirl,' the occasionally charming but uneven adaptation of his novella, is refreshing even though it does not really work.

’2046’ beautiful, but not timeless

'2046,' the latest film from Chinese author Wong Kar-Wai, is intricately woven, gorgeously filmed, and innovatively structured. Movie a ’Prime’ example of unique style

The most important aspect of 'Prime' is its previews do it little justice. Until the movie is actually viewed, Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman seem an unlikely pair, Bryan Greenberg is just that hot guy from 'One Tree Hill,' and the plot appears so shamefully predictable that lovers of the chick flick all over the country could predict the ending in the first 10 minutes.
