Michigan's loss to Michigan State has opened up the Big Ten East division race.

UW favorite in West, three team race for East

After then-junior Trace McSorley and his rocket arm catapulted the Penn State Nittany Lions to a 38-31 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers in the Big 10 Championship Game last season, crushing the Badgers’ last hopes of reaching the College Football Playoff or the Rose Bowl, many Wisconsin fans started uttering the familiar mantra of “there’s always next year.” Well, the 2017 year is finally here, and No. 9 Wisconsin will look to bring back a conference title to Madison this year.

Biegel gets drafted, gets to live out childhood dream of being a Packer

Growing up in Wisconsin Rapids, Vince Biegel was just like any other Green Bay Packers fan, with his number four Brett Favre jersey on his shoulders and a cheesehead to top off his Sunday best. He cheered his heart out for the green and gold with visions of someday turning that four on his back into a 45 with the word BIEGEL spelled out across the top.

Badgers look to make impact on various NFL rosters

Only three players on the Wisconsin Badgers’ 2016 roster heard their names called in the 2017 NFL Draft, but eight of them now have NFL contracts and are working with various pro teams to prepare for the preseason. As expected, outside linebacker T.J.

Fresh faces, defense shine in annual spring football game

Youth and defense were on display as the Wisconsin football team wrapped up spring practice with its annual Cardinal-White game Friday night at Camp Randall Stadium. The White (defense) defeated the Cardinal (offense) 20-17. “I thought it was a really good spring for this team,” head coach Paul Chryst said.

Changing the playbook: Coaches must bear burden of sexual assault prevention education, advocates say

The Minnesota football case was a microcosm of many of the issues surrounding athletics and sexual violence. Most profoundly evident in both the disturbing reports of the incident and in the boycott itself was the potential danger of that close-knit, familial bond among teammates. Jessica Luther, author of “Unsportsmanlike Conduct: College Football and the Politics of Rape,” says that when that team mentality goes unsupervised, it can have horrifying consequences.

Bostad returns to UW to coach inside linebackers

The Wisconsin football program announced the hiring of Bob Bostad as the inside linebacker coach Friday, a position opened when Justin Wilcox left to coach at California. Bostad will become the third inside linebacker coach in as many years for the Badgers, with former coordinators Wilcox and Dave Aranda filling the position for the past two seasons.

Former Badger James White guides Patriots to Super Bowl win with record-setting night

A former Wisconsin Badger added another Super Bowl ring to his trophy case on Sunday as New England Patriots’ running back James White put together a record-setting performance to help his team pull off the greatest comeback in NFL postseason history. White played four years in Madison from 2010-'13, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors for his 1,000-yard, 14-touchdown 2010 season.

Wisconsin executes game plan to near perfection in defeat of Western Michigan

The No. 8 Wisconsin Badgers beat the No. 15 Western Michigan Broncos in the Cotton Bowl by playing their style of football: a slow, efficient offense complimenting a punishing and consistent defense. Paul Chryst’s team is not one that will have a lot of opportunities to blow opponents out, but they grind and wear down all challengers for four quarters, pulling ahead and staying ahead as they did in their 24-16 victory Saturday in Dallas. It started, as it has all season, with senior running back Corey Clement and the rushing attack.
