Madison Police Department arrested a man early Friday morning following reports he fired a gun in a downtown parking garage. The shooting, witnessed by a private security guard, occurred after three people approached the suspect’s car in the State Street Campus Garage and appeared to have a conversation, according to an MPD incident report. As they walked away from his car, the suspect fired a shot and sped out of the garage, taking out a parking ramp stop arm in the process.
