My buddy and I have a crazy plan: we pooled our resources, got our parents to co-sign a mortgage, and bought a house on the edge of our college. We want to fix it up and sell it by the end of this year at a profit. The house has good bones for the most part. There are no leaky pipes or holes in the ceiling, but stepping inside feels like you’re taking a time machine back a few decades, and I think the last person to live there was a smoker. What are some tips to flip a house? Do you think we can pull this off?

I'm thinking about buying a term paper. I've been under a ton of stress lately, and while I've worked really hard to keep my grades up and focus on improving my essays, I just don't feel like I have time to write this one and do the kind of work I actually have do on it. So I'm going to buy it, I think — you know, go on one of those websites where you can buy pre-written ones, or whatever.

The time has come for me to start looking at Medicare, but I'm very confused about how the whole thing works. It seems as if, at some point, everyone managed to learn what Medicare is, how it works, and how to get it — everyone, that is, except for me! I feel kind of silly, but I don't know where to start. Experts, can you help me figure out Medicare or point me toward the right places to start learning?

So, my roommate is getting married in a few months, and I’ve offered to help her out. I’m a bridesmaid, not her maid of honor, but I’ve worked in catering for a few years. Once her boyfriend proposed, I offered to give her a hand with planning and preparation. Fast forward and I’m really worried for the wedding. It seems like she’s way behind on everything. She doesn’t have a plan for the food. Invitations haven’t been sent out. Things like dress code haven’t even been decided yet . Some of this is stuff my friend claims her sister will do, but her sister doesn’t seem to be taking care of anything. Her sister is nice, but she’s really young and seems totally over her head. I know you don’t need these things to get married, but they’re all things my friend has said she wanted. Now it seems like all she wants to do is think about her wedding, but won’t do anything. I’ve worked on stuff like this to know how long it takes to plan a big celebration, and I don’t want to see my friend’s wedding fall apart. After all, I did promise to help. How can I help her with these problems without coming off as crazy?

I’m graduating with a lot of debt from a lot of lenders. Not exactly ideal, but I’ve got a job that pays pretty well, so meeting the monthly payments won’t be that stressful. What is stressing me out is the fact that I’ve got to pay back a bunch of different lenders, using different websites, on different timetables, with different passwords and usernames. I really want to simplify all this moving forward. I’ve heard about debt consolidation services. Are these legit? How do they work?

I love coffee, and I drink a lot of it. I don't think that's a bad thing, at least not for my health or anything (I have a normal heart rate, so I'm not worried that I drink too much), but it has been kind of a drain on my finances. I get most of my coffee at Starbucks, because I like the way the coffee tastes there. I don't really want to switch to a cheaper place, but buying a coffee or two (and sometimes one of the fancier drinks) at Starbucks day after day is something that I probably shouldn't be doing on my college-student budget. I'm not broke, but I’m not rich, either. Experts, how can I get my coffee habit to fit my financial needs?

I don't know how to feel about the way we're all so visible online. I like using social media, but it kind of scares me that having a bad social media post can ruin your career and make you some kind of societal outcast. I know that some of the things that have caused outrage recently are absolutely unacceptable, but it also scares me to imagine that the internet mob might ever go after me. What do experts think of our online lives? How do they suggest we regain our privacy?

My friends and I are thinking about taking a big vacation together this year. The idea is to go on a road trip, most likely around the West — California, maybe Oregon and Washington, places like that. None of us have planned a big road trip before, though, so I’m not super confident that we know what we’re doing. Are there any common problems we should watch out for? Do the experts have any tips on planning a big road trip?

I’m very much in love with my girlfriend, but there’s one issue that keeps coming between us: we are very, very broke.

I am very interested in nature these days. I love to hike, I love to spend time outside, and I’ve begun to get more interested in environmental issues. I’ve almost become a full-on hippie! But there’s still one area in which I think nature buffs and hippies are a little weird: natural health. When I talk to friends about diet and natural remedies, they go on and on about stuff that sounds ridiculous to me. Experts, what’s the real deal on the natural world and health?

I love technology, and I’m often a big early adopter. However, sometimes, the technology people create just seems silly to me. I’m thinking in particular of 3-D printing--it’s kind of useless, right? I see tech-loving people on websites like Reddit posting cool stuff they printed with 3-D printers, but it’s never very functional stuff, and 3-D printers are so expensive. I feel like I’m missing something! Why are 3-D printers even a thing? Who would buy one? Am I getting old and becoming a grumpy technology-hater?

I could use some advice. I’m a college senior taking my last semester of classes. Once I finish, I’ll be able to graduate in the fall, just one semester behind the rest of my graduating class. I’ll be graduating with a degree in sociology.

I see a lot of ads for personal injury lawyers (just like everyone else does, I’d imagine!), but I don’t really know much about the law. Seeing all the ads around makes me curious, though. I know that Americans love to sue each other, but how does personal injury law actually work? How easy is it, really, to win money just because you were injured? And how easy is it to be the one who has to pay up — is it something that a normal person should worry about? Experts, what can you tell me about the basics of personal injury law?

My family loves to drive, including me! We like to take our vacations by car, and we like to take the long way home sometimes. My parents grew up during a time when fuel prices weren’t as good as they are now, and they mention sometimes how nice it is to be able to use more of it.

I’m worried about the way that my mother is with money. It’s not that she spends needlessly--in fact, it’s kind of the opposite. My mother is cheap. Ironically, her cheapness is really costing her!

I’ve been fascinated with Texas Hold’em for a while. I guess it started with reading about Chris Moneymaker’s incredible story and how he became famous. All of this from winning an incredible tournament online. I am in New Jersey, and I often play in Atlantic City; however, this is quite a drive and my college class schedule does not allow me to do this regularly. Also, I am trying to improve my game and prefer the non-intimidating online environment. However, is online poker legal? I see all types of answers online and am not quite sure.

I love cars, and I’m pretty handy with them. I have an old car that I’ve been working on since high school, and it runs pretty well, if I may say so myself. However, it’s not the most popular car in the world: my family, my friends, and especially my girlfriend are not fans. They say it’s an eyesore, and I have to admit they’re right. I didn’t do a great job of painting it (yep, I did that myself, too!), and the interior is a disaster. It’s dirty, and it’s ugly, and I know that. However, I’m not keeping this car forever. What’s the big deal? It runs fine, so I’m inclined to just keep it as it is until I sell it, if I can find a way to explain my position to my family, friends, and girlfriend! Any suggestions?

I want to get outdoors more. Lately, I feel like I’m kind of a recluse: I’m working, studying, sleeping, and even partying indoors. So I’d like to get out into the woods or the mountains or something--but I’m also not really very athletic or into outdoor sports. So, experts, what would you recommend? I’d like to take a vacation or something that puts me outside (and in nature, not just at resorts and stuff), but I don’t really know where to start.

Someday, I’d like to buy a house. That’s because I know that buying a house is more cost-effective than renting a house or apartment--plus, I just think it would be nice to own my own space and be able to renovate it and stuff like that. I know that part of the reason this is a good idea is that my home can increase in value over time. Except, I don’t understand why that is.

I could use some insight since I can’t seem to find all the information myself. I just graduated from college with dual degrees: one in computer science and one in behavioral psychology. It took almost five years instead of four, but it was worthwhile in the end.
