I’m part of a pretty tight-knit organization at my school, and I’ve been elected to be the social chair this year. Most of the members of this organization live together off campus in an apartment complex, and we usually have parties every year. We make sure that the only people drinking there are over 21 and make it a point to take good care of the property. I’m looking for advice on two issues: 1) what is the most cost-effective way to buy inexpensive but quality alcohol and 2) we have a no-smoking policy in the apartments but people have started vaping. Is vaping okay in an apartment?

Since I left for college, my parents have told me that my grandfather has started to develop some health issues. The good news is that he is able to stay in his home (which he insists upon) and doesn’t need to go to a nursing home. But my parents are contemplating buying some things for his home so that he can be safer and more comfortable. He’s started having mobility issues (I guess both with standing up and potentially falling), and he was diagnosed with sleep apnea. He also has arthritis and high blood pressure. I’m worried about him, especially being in a home without medical staff. Can he take care of himself at home?

I’m ready to graduate in just about every way. I have a job lined up, a potential roommate, and big plans for my own space. I just don’t have the space itself--and I’m worried that I won’t be able to find the right one. That’s because of one more plan I have for the moment I graduate: I’m getting a dog. I’ve always wanted one, and once I’m really on my own, I’ll finally be able to get one. But I’m concerned about being able to rent a space that allows dogs. Any tips on shopping around for dog-friendly apartments?

My family recently made the decision to move my grandmother to an assisted living facility. It was not an easy decision, but my parents, who bore most of the burden of the decision, felt that it was the best place for her to get the care she needs.

My friends and I recently came up with what we thought was an awesome idea: a big group vacation over the summer. Great idea, right? Only now we’re in a pitched debate over where to go. In particular, there’s a big debate between cities and the coast. And now there’s another debate: should we plan everything ourselves, or should we rely on a travel agent or all-in-one resort-type deal? I want to do something more like those latter options, but the others are worried about money. I can afford it, though, and my friends aren’t being helpful in planning. I’m at the end of my rope, here. Help!

I’d like the experts to back me up on something that’s really important to me. I’ve been having some issues with my friends here understanding something, and I want to be able to show them some proof that I’m right.

Next summer, I’m going on vacation with my friends from here at school. It’s a long ways off, but I’m already stressing about it, and here’s why: my mother is going to drive me nuts.

I’m lucky to go here. It’s a great school, the campus is beautiful, the professors are brilliant, and I know I’ll be better off for having been here. But right now, I’m not happy. I don’t have many friends here at all, and I find myself alone a lot on weekend nights. I keep to myself, I go to class, I study, and that’s about it. It’s very lonely, and it makes me feel like I’m really missing out on the college experience--everyone is supposed to have the time of their life in college, right?

When I’m not at school during the summer, I’m back home at my parents’ house, where I grew up. We have a pool out back, and it’s my favorite thing in the world--on a hot summer day, there’s nothing better than plunging in there. When I was growing up, I didn’t really run or play sports, but I would spend hours in the pool. As I got older and realized I needed to exercise if I was going to stay skinny, I started swimming laps.

I recently heard someone on the news talking about making money from your money. What does that mean? I always thought the only way to accrue money was by getting paid. Now I am interested in learning about the different things I can do with my money. Is it possible to earn more without having to work for it? It feels like it’s too good to be true.

I have a straightforward question that feels complicated every time I think about it: how do loans work?

My sister is having her second baby, and of course my whole family is excited! But I also want to make sure her first child--the new big sister--doesn’t feel left out. My niece is four, so she’s definitely used to being the only child! How can we help transition her into sisterhood and also let her know that she is just as loved as ever? Do the experts have any advice?

I’m going to graduate this year, but I don’t think I’m quite ready to settle down and work in an office somewhere. I have the idea that I want to travel the world for a bit. But I don’t want to just live of my mom and dad’s money, or anything (I don’t think they’d let me do that, anyway!)--I want to work while I’m moving around.
