So creamy you can dip Oreos in it, New Glarus' seasonal Road Slush Stout packs in the chocolate—chocolate malt, that is. The beer channels the best of the worst attribute of winter transportation—thick, dark sludge. Luckily, this brew is much more drinkable than its salty doppelgänger.
With a milk chocolate shell and a creamy center, the Yin Yang finds balance between flavor and texture. As it melts away, a savory jasmine tea flavor explodes onto your palate. The accurate embodiment of the tea is something to come back to whether you find nirvana or not.
Raspberry Chipotle is a David Bacco seasonal. It has a smooth texture with an unmistakable raspberry purée center. The heat from the chipotle is very subtle, but noticeable.
For pecan fans, this chocolate is a must. With a creamy tan shell and a rich caramel-pecan center, the Hazelnut Praline Milk Chocolate is a true gift for mouths. Its sweet-salty crunch leaves a pleasant mouth feel and pleasing texture, and the subtle notes of hazelnut round out this amazing chocolate.
To those unaccustomed to spicy chocolate, the elegant red foil on this Truffle serves as both a warning and an enticement. At first bite the aromatic cinnamon opens the senses for what is coming. As the chocolate ganache melts away a soft slow burn from the pepper complements the tang of the cinnamon and the cool creaminess of the dark chocolate. This one is a favorite.

David's gorgeous chocolates are not only visually appealing, but also unbelievably delicious. His Passion Fruit Vanilla Truffle is the best fruit flavored chocolate in town. It convincingly carries the flavors of passion fruit and marries them perfectly with Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans, Malibu rum, and delicate milk chocolate.
Wrapped in attractive dark chocolate, this truffle has a sweet smelling jam-like center. The raspberry flavor is active and works magnificently with the chocolate.
Bacco attempts to channel romantic sensuality with his ""L'amour"" line. Aphrodisiac for Her contains aromas of strawberry, passion fruit, and honey. These flavors are intensely fruity.
Topped with a pretty rose petal, this truffle has subtle nuances that are best observed when savored. Our expert palates had difficulty picking up the rose tea character, but it is still a tantalizingly tasty truffle.
The Sour Cherry Truffle packs a wallop of chocolate cherry pie right to the kisser. The dried cherry on top serves as both a happy metaphor for extra special goodness and a special treat for the taste buds. If it is possible to perfect the cherry chocolate, this is the closest we could find.
At first taste I was dizzy from this intense chocolate. It smells like chai, but the first notes are not quite familiar – and vaguely (though strangely not in a negative way) reminiscent of bug spray. The familiar chai flavor seeps in as the flavors parade past the palate. Another favorite.
The chocolate's yellow and black shell pays homage to the fiery dessert that the chocolate takes its name from. The candy has a simple light buttery flavor and appearance that is complemented by a surprising crispiness. With its delicate layers maximizing the resemblance to crème brûlée, our reviewers loved it.
This sweet tangy truffle is exotic. The mysterious passion fruit flavor is strangely convincing at the second bite. Rich dark chocolate serves as a complementing vehicle for the sweet fruity center.
Bacco gives the men a little more fire to work with in his Aphrodisiac for Him chocolate, combining curry, ginseng, ginger, and Barbados rum; Bacco's Aphrodisiac leaves the taste of fine Italian sambuca. Its soft milk chocolate ganache and delicate notes of caramel are almost intoxicating. Both our male and female reviewers agreed that the men got the better truffle. Sorry girls.
Here is a charming candy that executes a classic well. Gail's homemade caramel is rich and buttery, which pairs well with her use of sea salt. The flavors of chocolate, caramel and salt are a threesome to die for.
From the ashes of Madison Avenue rises an under-21 hot spot that even the police—or at least the Alcohol License and Review Committee—can get behind. In contrast to the troubled history that the defunct Madison Avenue left behind, Segredo is clean, elegant and tasteful. Owner Michael Hierl said he has strived to create a venue that those above and below the drinking age can enjoy at night.
January's Merriweather Post Pavillion was touted as one of the best albums of the year since its release. Regarded as the most accessible Animal Collective album, early fans lamented its departure from the band's earlier squirreliness and spontaneity.
Like a sorcerer, a good chef conjures warm spirits by charming basic ingredients into a magical ecstasy of the senses. This happened the last time I went out for breakfast as I was truly bewildered by the perfection embodied in the herbed chèvre croissant at Café Soleil. To my pleasant surprise, this ""luxury bread"" satiated my breakfast urges for just $3.50.
