In the midst of the now-forgotten NHL lockout, much was made about what player were and were not taking advantage of the time off by playing in other leagues. Those who played in the American Hockey League or Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League were expected to come in and set the score sheet ablaze, while those who hibernated over the 119-day lockout would need some time to re-adjust to game speed.

The scourge of 80s and 90s arthouse cinema and general cultural
ne'er-do-well David Lynch has been busy lately, doing virtually
everything he can to put off directing a follow-up to his most
recent dose of cinematic nightmare fuel, Inland Empire.
He's written self help books and thrown together a photography
collection for Sparklehorse and Dangermouse's ill fated Dark
Night of the Soul and, oh, yeah, put out his own line of
coffee beans. So what does that leave? Well, while we're all
waiting for the inevitable children's book collaboration with Lars
van Trier (ANYTHING but another movie, I suppose), there's Lynch's
latest project to tide us over, his surprisingly solid solo debut,
Crazy Clown Time.

After a year of NCAA violations ripping through some of the
nation’s preeminent college football programs, the latest scandal
involving the Penn State football program takes the disgust over
what happened at Ohio State and Miami to a completely different
level. Penn State didn’t just violate NCAA bylaws (in fact, they
probably didn’t violate those at all), they violated our nation’s
laws and more importantly, the laws of human morality.
