The No. 9 Wisconsin Badgers (2-0 Big Ten, 5-0 overall) are known as a slow-and-steady to win the race kind of team, but they needed a little bit more hare than tortoise in their 38-17 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-1, 3-3).

Wisconsin continues its run through the Big Ten conference schedule this week as it hits the road to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-0 Big Ten, 3-2 overall). Nebraska, thus far, has defeated Arkansas State, Rutgers and Illinois, while losing to Oregon and Northern Illinois. The NIU loss was its first loss to a non-Power-5 conference school since 2004. The Cornhuskers may be off to a disappointing start, but they will surely bring their A-game at home under the lights against the Badgers. Here are 3 things each team should focus on if they want to win.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers come into this game sitting at 3-2 overall, and 2-0 in Big Ten play, giving them a share for first place in the West division. However, those numbers somewhat mask the season Nebraska is having this year. The Cornhuskers began the year losing two of their first three games, and looked pitiful in the process. The school fired its athletic director after the second loss of the season, telling reporters that the football program has not been competitive enough since he had taken over in 2012. That puts Nebraska’s head coach, Mike Riley, squarely on the hottest seat in college football. Since then, the team has won its last two games, both against Big Ten teams. But Nebraska’s problems are far from solved, and the team is still searching for answers five games into the season.

A week after close calls among playoff contenders, college football revealed its truly elite teams. Some teams ended up dropping crucial games while others proved they are deserving of their high rankings. Yet, week five further solidified that the top two teams in the country, Alabama and Clemson, are clearly college football’s two front-runners while the rest of the top ten is still chasing last year’s National Championship teams. Here is a look at a few of the key games from this past weekend:

No doubt things would have been different last Saturday had Wisconsin’s defensive line not picked up the slack during its sluggish first half against Northwestern. No. 9 Wisconsin, having trailed the Wildcats 10-7 at the half, seemed to have no apparent momentum available to carry it into the second half of the game. However, while the offense seemed out of sorts, the defense was anything but. Wisconsin’s defensive line made some big time plays, holding the Wildcats to only 25 rushing yards, putting major pressure on Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorson and, in turn, leaving the Wildcats without any room to run the ball. Wisconsin’s defense shined bright again on Saturday with six Badgers accounting for eight sacks during the game — the highest total since 2001.

Aside from an upset in Minneapolis at the hands of the Maryland Terrapins last Saturday afternoon, the Big Ten had a pretty ho-hum slate of games in week five. Paul Chryst made halftime adjustments to beat Northwestern. Nebraska beat up on Illinois at home. Michigan State’s defense came to life against Iowa. Saquon Barkley padded his Heisman resume against Indiana. And, of course, Rutgers got thumped by No. 10 Ohio State. Pretty standard stuff. With enough games played to get a feel for each team, where does the conference stand going into week six?

The Wisconsin Badgers are off to a hot start with a 4-0 record (1-0 Big Ten). They have been one of the most talented and well rounded teams in the country, reflected by their ranking of ninth in the Associated Press rankings. But how does each position group shape up by themselves?

Oftentimes, the most consequential moments of your life are the ones you can’t see coming. They come at you out of nowhere, and the fight-or-flight instinct takes over. That’s exactly what happened to me Thursday, when I had the pleasure of encountering Paul Chryst in person for the first time.

The EA sports release of the formerly unreleased gameplay footage of Madden NFL 2018: Commissioner Goodell Edition came out as a slam dunk for the video game production studio. The new game, which involves a highly thought-out and synoptic storyline, involves the more administrative tasks of Commissioner Roger Goodell’s job as NFL commissioner.

Last week, Badger fans scattered at pools and lakes across Madison on a scorching hot Saturday were grateful for the bye week and the respite it provided from what would have been a sunburnt day spent at Camp Randall. Paul Chryst and his players were able to spend the entire week focusing on themselves, their recovery and their upcoming game against Northwestern.

Week four of college football did not disappoint as many of the top teams in the nation got their first taste of conference action and, with it, their first true tests of the season. Away with the cupcakes! The first week of conference play served as a measuring stick for some, to see where their season might be taking them, while for others it was simply a stop on the road. Here are some recaps of some of the biggest games from last week.

On any given Sunday night, it’s likely you’ll see senior tight end Troy Fumagalli walking down the streets of Madison with a yoga mat, heading to a yin class. Although almost all of the Wisconsin faithful recognize Fumagalli on the field as Alex Hornibrook’s go-to receiver, most wouldn’t recognize him with his yoga mat as someone with a passion for practicing yoga.
