When the Badgers played a tight game against Purdue just a few weeks ago, the biggest play of the game wasn’t a Jonathan Taylor touchdown or a Troy Fumagalli catch, but rather, an interception inside the Badgers’ 20-yard line which helped ice the game and keep Wisconsin’s unbeaten season alive. That play was made by senior linebacker Leon Jacobs, who has had a breakout year that has gone unseen by many.
The last time the Wisconsin Badgers started a season 9-0 was in 2004. After beating Indiana 45-17 last Saturday, this year’s team tied that benchmark.

Week 10 was once again a banger in college football, especially in the afternoon games. Just like last week, the 2:30 time slot was filled with upsets, great games and a ton of shake-ups for the committee to deal with. So what exactly happened? Let me take you on a journey through week ten.
In a relatively chaotic weekend in college football, the Big Ten conference provided the most dramatic upsets for a college football fan to gorge on. Iowa upset Ohio State at Kinnick Stadium. Michigan State gave themselves a chance to possibly visit Indianapolis in December as the Big Ten East representatives as it upset Penn State. Wisconsin continues its push to win a second straight Big Ten West crown as it dealt with an overmatched Indiana team by using crucial defensive plays in the fourth quarter to prevail.

On the back of a week where Iowa upset Ohio State by 31 points and the Badgers fell in the AP rankings after a comfortable win at Indiana, senior defensive end Alec James is rather uninterested in any of college football’s recent chaos.
This year ESPN released a list called “Ranking the happiness of every college football fan base.” The survey took into account program power, rivalry dominance, coaching stability, recruiting trend, revenue growth and Twitter buzz. The results were in many ways unsurprising. Wisconsin came in at 14th out of 128 FBS programs. Predictably, its strong suits according to the survey were program power (95/100), revenue growth (98/100) and rivalry dominance (99/100). It’s hard to argue with those numbers.
It happened — Saquon Barkley had a “bad” day. But could this also show how dependent Penn State is on their star running back? Penn State had been averaging 441 yards per game. On Saturday, they were held to just 283 yards of total offense. If Penn State wants to be a legit title contender, they’ll have to find a way to score without relying solely on Barkley.
Heading into the final third of the season, the Indiana Hoosiers looked to play the role of The Little Engine That Could — both so close to climbing over the mountain, yet so far. In what has been an extremely underwhelming year for IU, who stand at a 3-5 overall record, the Hoosiers are still in search for their first Big Ten victory.
No.4 Wisconsin (6-0 Big Ten, 9-0 overall) overcame an early 10-point deficit Saturday at Indiana (0-6, 3-6) en route to a decisive 45-17 victory.
In a wild and hectic week nine on the national college football scene, the Big Ten certainly didn’t disappoint. Penn State-Ohio State turned out to a be one of the best games of the season and set the Buckeyes up for a National Championship run. Northwestern knocked off Michigan State to throw off the Big Ten East. Meanwhile in the Big Ten West, the Badgers continued their winning ways by beating Illinois and maintaining their two-game lead over NU.
With close games, some Ames magic and the first big coach firing, week nine in college football was spooky enough to live up to the Halloween weekend hype. And when the dust settled and polls were released Sunday afternoon, they looked topsy-turvy like it too was recovering from a hangover. Here’s what you goons missed on Halloweekend.
