The only thing the entire human race has in common is death. It is sad, but it is the truth. One of the greatest things about humanity, especially here in the U.S., is that you can make money doing anything. This brings us to one of the most underappreciated occupations, morticians. Morticians are an important aspect of our way of living. Morticians — also known as funeral directors — are responsible for making our loved ones who have passed look presentable during an open casket wake or funeral. They also help with the burying or cremation process.

John Mearsheimer has recently made headlines for an article in the New Yorker in which he claims that the United States, not Russia, is to blame for the crisis in Ukraine. Once one can get past the natural emotionally charged reaction that might come from reading such a headline, the realist professor from the University of Chicago makes an argument that seems to make sense on the surface, but fails to uphold further scrutiny.

On the first day of the spring semester, I walked into my Italian Film lecture in the lower level of Ingraham Hall. Trying to avoid accidental eye contact with the professor, I decided to sit near the back, but not so far back that it created a “This person doesn’t want to be here at all” vibe — whether or not that’s accurate is irrelevant.

In the wake of the creation of the University of Austin, a university that will pride itself on providing an “unbiased” education to their students, professors around the country have critiqued this methodology. Walking out of an afternoon class, you may have been starting to notice a warm hue in the sky: the sun setting. As beautiful as it is, you might pause and question why the sun is starting to go down on your walk home from a 3:30 p.m. discussion section. The seasons are changing, and as we approach mid-November and the colder months, the sun is beginning to rise later, set earlier and the temperatures will drop to dreadful lows. Denis Villeneuve released “Dune” (2021) into a dizzying sandstorm of expectations. The star-studded cast promised recognizable, idolized personalities, such as Timotheé Chalamet and Zendaya. Author Frank Herbert established the franchise decades ago and posthumously left Villeneuve a dedicated, literary fanbase. Commentators, and the director himself, urged audiences to see the film in theaters, lest its cinematic artistry go unappreciated.
