Are you debating picking up another major to stay in Madison for
one more semester? Do you feel you lack any applicable skills? You
probably do, and as I am an expert on all things college, I have
compiled a list of nine ways to determine if you should graduate in
2009. Take a look and determine the answer to this question: ""Are
you ready?"" Maybe the answer is clear cut, maybe you're ready to
be a young urban professional who collects wine bottles, maybe
you're a frat boy unable to tear himself away from the paddle you
use to spank your brothers... or maybe you're somewhere in the
middle, stuck with me.

Last week, students and UW campus leaders came together for a
forum titled ""In the Wake: Plan 2008."" In this particular
instance, a ""wake"" seems a fitting word to call it, considering
Plan 2008 collapsed under its own high expectations.

The Dane County Farmers' Market is a long-standing tradition in
Madison. For those of us searching for signs of spring, the
farmers' market is a wonderful reminder that summer is also on its
way. From mid-April through early November, Saturday-morning
voyagers make their way to Capitol Square. Here, eager eyes and
wallets are poised to buy in-season produce, meat products, cheese,
flowers and so much more.

For as long as cars have raced around in the NASCAR circuit, the
argument about whether or not it is a sport has also raced around
in discussions and forums.

If a thought occurs to you first thing after waking up, it's
always best to write it down immediately. Is it good? Is it bad?
Where does it come from? Those are questions to ask later, when you
know for certain that you're awake, since it's a fact there's no
use asking questions if you're still in a dream—no one ever has the
decency to give a straight answer, that is, if they're talking at
all.

The Wisconsin men's basketball team's second-half meltdown last
Saturday was a big wake-up call for a team fighting for an NCAA
tournament bid. The Badgers (8-7 Big Ten, 17-10 overall) will need
to respond quickly if they want to keep those hopes alive this
Sunday afternoon when they host the Michigan Wolverines (7-8,
17-11).

For different people, the end of winter means different things.
For some, it's the end of restricting clothing and the start of
showing off (or admiring) those long legs in tiny, floral-print
skirts. Others see it as being that much closer to a three-month
hiatus from school. And then there are always the few who wake up
from a long slumber and emerge groggily from the fertile soil. But
those are mostly bears.

The game of baseball has always been one where numbers and
statistics play an important role. One batter stands at the plate,
one pitcher on the mound, and the action is so infrequent it can
easily be charted and broken down.

With constant pressure to secure funding, an effective research
scientist can't afford to sit around a lab and merely strive for
infinite knowledge. If that was all they ever focused on, funding
would soon dry up, leaving potentially groundbreaking projects only
half-finished.
