Live & Grow is the solo debut album from California rapper Casey Veggies. The cover of the album depicts a play on the famed image of the Evolution of Man, depicting a kid growing up and changing into the current man that Veggies is today. However, the album lacks the true substance to back up this thesis that is presented through the album title and art.

Preseason AP and FPI rankings have not been as kind to the SEC in recent years as they have been in the past, but that may end soon. SEC teams currently hold the top four spots in FPI—No. 3 Ole Miss, No. 8 LSU, No. 7 Georgia and No. 12 Alabama round out the top.

In the midst of a new wave of alternative sound comes Youth Lagoon’s new album, Savage Hills Ballroom. The indie artist behind the album, Trevor Powers of Boise, Idaho, crafts a virtually seamless soundtrack, one song flowing into the next like the chapters of a story. Separately, each track engenders a similar mood that teeters between melancholy and angst. However, the true value in this album becomes clear when listened to as a whole.

Ben Folds’ new album, So There, is essentially two albums in one. The first eight tracks are new material written in collaboration with yMusic, a New York-based chamber ensemble, and the last three tracks consist of Folds’ “Concerto For Piano and Orchestra.” The concerto, co-commissioned by the Nashville Ballet and the Minnesota Orchestra, was performed last year before being recorded for this album.

Two weeks of college football are in the books, and the playoff picture is still as murky as ever. No. 1 Ohio State has looked vulnerable in back-to-back first halves, but then looked invincible again down the stretch of both of its first two games. No. 15 Ole Miss has obliterated two unsuspecting foes, scoring 76 and 73 points to open the season. No. 3 TCU got back to its old ways after a week one scare against Minnesota by torching Stephen F. Austin to the tune of 70 points.

If you haven’t heard of Tidal yet, don’t worry; the streaming service backed by various big name artists such as Jay-Z and Kanye will whither away and die before you have a chance to stream one of their lossless quality songs. Two weeks ago, a conference was held in which several millionaire artists advertised the “premium” streaming service that would promise more money for artists on the site. This didn’t go over so well, as it’s hard to convince the common man that a millionaire on stage asking for more money has their best interests at heart.

Revelers would be wise to arrive early in the day to experience all that the festival has to offer, including a myriad of local artists playing the Terrace Stage, the silent “Wisco Disco” and a variety of art installations and interactive attractions. Alongside these daytime attractions, singer-songwriter Nick Hakim will kick off festivities on the Main Stage with his 3:00 set, setting the stage for a big day of music with his haunting hybrid of R&B, jazz and folk music.

I didn’t think I would come to accept the Badgers’ title game loss to Duke as quickly as I did. It’s only been a week now, but Wisconsin’s defeat to one of the most hated teams in college basketball seems like a distant memory.

The Majestic Theater hosted an eclectic, sold-out crowd March 23 for one of the industry’s truest renaissance men, California producer/musician/visual artist Scott Hansen, better known as Tycho. While Hansen has been writing and producing albums as Tycho for over a decade, he now tours with a full band and an artistically thoughtful visual show that he designed himself. Tycho, every bit as accomplished a graphic artist as he is a musician, has been producing visual art for years under the name ISO50. Following in the wake of his 2014 album Awake, Tycho brought his unique blend of ambient post-rock and synth music on the road with a coherent vision that translated perfectly into his new live show.

Last Thursday, Greensky Bluegrass had the pleasure of taking the Stoughton Opera House’s more than 100-year-old stage for the first time where they made the most of their experience, playing two sets brimming with improvisation, technicality and innovation.

Every year, the members of this great nation gather on futons and La-Z-Boys from sea to shining sea in celebration of one event: the Super Bowl. Personally, I observed the holiday by eating beautifully seasoned tortilla chips and talking about how the Seahawks should win because “Macklemore is from Seattle.”

Last week’s 59-24 drubbing of Nebraska was Wisconsin’s most impressive victory since, well, the previous meeting between those two teams, a 70-31 Badger beatdown in the 2012 Big Ten title game.

Following a pair of convincing victories last weekend, No. 3 Wisconsin will get its toughest test of the young season when it welcomes in intrastate rival Green Bay and its star player, senior point guard Keifer Sykes.
