When it was announced that a posthumous Mac Miller would be released this past Friday, new and old fans alike had a bit of a moment. Some of us excited, genuinely looking forward to hearing the accompaniment album to “Swimming,” which was released in 2018. However, for a large segment of Mac fans, the announcement was bittersweet.

For a class of seniors and team that has achieved so much, it’s tough to watch the 2019-20’ Badgers fall short of putting the ultimate icing on the cake and coming away with a win in the Rose Bowl. The script that was followed was familiar for Wisconsin, and one that spelled trouble for them earlier in the season as well.

A year ago, around this time, Jack Coan wasn’t under center yet. He wasn’t taking snaps in front of a deflated Camp Randall crowd watching their Wisconsin Badgers fall to Minnesota for the first time in 15 seasons. Yet, from the sidelines, he and his teammates experienced the gravity of a loss that would hang on their backs for the next twelve months.

In order to shake off last week’s struggles and return to early-season form on Nov. 23 against Purdue, the Wisconsin defensive unit will have to make sure to shut down freshman WR David Bell. With Purdue’s star freshman receiver from last year, Rondale Moore, out since Sept. 28 with a hamstring injury, Bell has had to adapt to a starting position and facing opponents’ #1 cornerback.

When then-No. 19 Wisconsin left campus for their season opener in South Florida back in August, there was a significantly smaller spotlight on the team. Many fans and analysts alike had circled the game as a potential upset spot against the Badgers, facing a scrappy USF team in the extreme humidity of hurricane season. Now after seven weeks – and six consecutive dominant wins – No. 6 Wisconsin (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) will head to Illinois (2-4, 0-3) for their second road game, this time as one of the nation’s premier teams. The players, however, couldn’t care less what the media thinks of them.

Already grossing nearly $2.5 billion worldwide at the box office, “Avengers: Endgame” is perhaps the biggest film event of the year. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe waited a year for the studio to deliver an epic conclusion that united all of the superheroes to defeat the mad titan Thanos, and directors Joe and Anthony Russo did not disappoint.
