University of Wisconsin-Madison freshman Molly Sequin began her first day of classes Tuesday, but unlike her fellow Badgers, Molly’s day was documented live on the university’s website.

For every change the Badgers made this offseason, it looked like Wisconsin used the same old winning recipe Saturday as first-year head coach Gary Andersen used a strong rushing attack to lead the way in a 45-0 victory over Massachusetts.

Music festivals are a staple of the live music scene. More than just a single-night concert, fans see two, three, four, days and nights of music. Road trips are taken, alcohol is ingested and someone in every group comes home with an embarrassing story. With the sun finally beaming and students coming out of hibernation, music festival season is here.

The last three days have had their fair share of big moments in the sports world. The NFL Draft was as unpredictable as ever. Steph Curry further cemented his status as one of the best young guards in the NBA against the Nuggets. Washington Wizards center Jason Collins became the first active player in a major American sport to come out as gay.

So I decided to write a mock draft in preparation of this week’s NFL draft. You may be asking, “What qualifies you to write anything on the NFL or football in general? You don’t seem particularly bright, and you probably are ugly.” Well, my only defense to that would be to tell you I have better hair than Mel Kiper, and that covers me on all counts—so take that. Plus most of these “experts” have a worse history of predictions than your local weatherman. So, here we go.

The Badgers’ football team, under first-year head coach Gary Andersen, will sing “On Wisconsin” after every game. Win or lose, home or away, Andersen says he owes it to the fans to put on a show.

The Wisconsin softball team (6-3 Big Ten, 28-6 overall) travelled to the Twin Cities this weekend to face off against conference foe Minnesota in a three-game series. The Badgers looked to build upon a hot start to their Big Ten schedule winning five of their first six conference games against Illinois and Iowa.

Twitter is fun. It’s a mindless way to pass the time by reading about what your favorite celebrities ate for breakfast or which politicians my friends despise. But sometimes I don’t care what other people have to say because what I have to say is much more important. Sadly, I don’t have enough followers yet. Never fear, self (and those who read this); I have a foolproof plan for you to gain Twitter followers in a snap, crackle and pop.

EAST LANSING, Mich.—Wisconsin did not get Michigan State’s best Thursday night. The Izzone was on spring break, the band was out of town and the Spartans couldn’t find the backside of a barn in the first half. The Badgers’ problem was that they couldn’t find it, either. Wisconsin (11-6 Big Ten, 20-10 overall) continued to struggle shooting the basketball, making just 15-of-51 (29 percent) from the field en route to a resounding 58-43 defeat in East Lansing, Mich.

A tough loss and a short week of practice apparently had no affect on the No. 16 Wisconsin men’s hockey team (12-7-7 WCHA, 16-11-7 overall) this weekend, as it swept No. 13 Nebraska-Omaha (14-10-2, 18-14-2) on the road.

In over 100 years of basketball at Wisconsin, the Badgers had never played in three consecutive overtime games.

President Obama’s State of the Union Address Tuesday night stressed a need for progressive change proactive commitment to improving our nation, and there was perhaps no better example of this than the tasteful yet enticing wire-framed glasses sported by Vice President Joe Biden during the event.

While you would be hard-pressed to find a Badger player or coach willing to admit it, Wisconsin has had this weekend’s matchup with No. 3 Michigan circled on the calendar for quite some time. Despite losing last weekend in Bloomington, Ind., the Wolverines (8-2 Big Ten, 21-2 overall) could easily be the best team in the nation and remain very much in control in a Big Ten race that is just about as tight as gets.

Coming off its first series without a win since Dec. 7-8, the Wisconsin men’s hockey team (8-6-6 WCHA, 11-9-6 overall) will look to rebound this weekend as it hosts Bemidji State (4-12-4, 5-16-5) at the Kohl Center.

After skating to a 1-1 tie Friday night, the No. 19 Wisconsin men’s hockey team (8-6-6 WCHA, 11-9-6 overall) had a much rougher go Saturday against No. 7/8 North Dakota (9-5-6, 14-8-6). The Badgers saw their 11-game WCHA unbeaten streak snapped and one of their leaders carried off the ice in a 4-1 loss in Grand Forks, N.D.

Often times the rhetoric surrounding an issue becomes the issue itself. Emotional hang-ups and the ever-present argument of deeming something “unconstitutional” can overwhelm the issue at hand, and that can not only hinder solving that problem, it can also blow the problem out of proportion and then lead an effort to fix things that aren’t broken.

Having failed to notch a truly marquee win in non-conference play, Wisconsin men’s basketball entered the conference season in need of a few big ones in order to make a 15th straight NCAA Tournament. Although they were able to avoid setbacks against lowly Penn State and Nebraska last week, the defining part of the Badgers’ season didn’t begin until Saturday’s game against No. 12 Illinois (1-3 Big Ten, 14-4 Overall), the beginning of an 11-game stretch in which every opponent is a legitimate NCAA Tournament contender. On the strength of a 14-0 run to start the game, Wisconsin (3-0, 12-4) got the statement victory it desperately needed, defeating the Illini by a final score of 74-51.

PASADENA, Calif.—Since Montee Ball announced he would return for his senior season 360 days ago, almost nothing has been predictable for the University of Wisconsin football program.
