Sports betting is a time-honored tradition. Ever since high
school, when I saw my first blank NCAA basketball tournament
bracket with its first-round games filled in, the seeds planted on
each team and the endless possibility for domination or upset,
shame or glory, I thought there was no more exciting way to spend
ten dollars.

I woke up at 6:30 a.m. for what seemed like the first time since
Nick Arcade was on the air. During winter break, I had the luxury
of going to bed just as 'Good Morning America' came on. But
yesterday was different, and consequently, yesterday was awful. I
stood under the shower for four minutes before realizing the water
was cold. At the grips of hypothermia, I said to myself, 'I need
one more week.'

The Badgers so far this season:
(12/12/05 6:00am)
As usual, this holiday season is replete with movies, from
modestly budgeted independent movies released to capitalize on
award consideration to mammoth spectacles designed to pack every
multiplex in the country to the gills. Peter Jackson's remake of
'King Kong' is by far the riskiest cinematic endeavor this
year'maybe even the most dicey studio-funded behemoth since
'Titanic.' If Jackson's gamble pays off, it could be the biggest
movie since then, as well.

Maintaining a profitable agricultural outfit in America has
become increasingly difficult due to changes in the fundamental

If college basketball was an edible treat that you would have to
eat a whole lot of to get fat ...then, well, I'd be fat (Sorry but
I had to delete the 'I'd be fatter than ...' punch-line. Fat jokes
are for people with no material. If you need your fix, just find
D.L. Hughley).
