Ducking into the lowly-lit stage room of the Bur Oak a couple weeks ago, I was greeted by a comfortable small stage with chairs and tables. I could feel the intimacy of the space when I first walked in, which was daunting at first.

With fierce winds and sheets of rain blowing south to north, Camp Randall Stadium was justifiably uncrowded Saturday. The lower bowl was splattered with empty seats from the 11:00 a.m. kickoff through the final whistle, and the student section peaked at around half capacity.

In late September, Wisconsin lost 0-3 to Minnesota in Minneapolis – the Badgers’ first and only Big Ten loss. In the nine games since, Wisconsin dropped only five of 27 sets. The Badgers’ win against the Gophers is their 10th in a row, tied with Ohio State for the longest streak in the conference.

Though only four games into the season, the pressure was mounting this weekend for the Wisconsin Badgers (2-4-0, 0-2-0) to put together a complete game and secure their elusive first win. They accomplished this and more in a much-needed series sweep of No. 10 Minnesota Duluth (2-4-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) at Amsoil Arena.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Gender and Sexuality Campus Center (GSCC) works to support and foster community among UW’s trans and queer students. The organization planned a day-long community-building event and trans film festival on Oct. 24, the same time as conservative commentator Matt Walsh’s talk at Memorial Union. GSCC organized several other initiatives throughout the fall to support LBGTQ+ students on campus.

Presented by the Wisconsin Union Directorate, Chicago-born vibraphonist Joel Ross and his quintet Good Vibes performed on Oct. 16 in Memorial Union's intimate Play Circle. The ensemble features tenor saxophonist Sergio Tabanico, bassist Kanoa Mendenhall, pianist Jeremy Corren, drummer Jeremy Dutton and, of course, vibraphonist Joel Ross himself.
