Wisconsin is currently in its first false spring, also known as the time of year where we all wake up and think “Huh, maybe I can get away with a light jacket today” only to return home at the end of the day with frostbite and a foot of snow to shovel.

Kwik Trip is a staple in just about every Wisconsinite’s life. Whether it be glazers, BBQ rib sandwiches or more gasoline to make it to the next Kwik Trip, one would be extremely hard-pressed to find a local who hasn’t stepped foot in a single location.

The Badgers got the Johnny Davis they know and love back, the rest of the team stepped up around him, and No. 14 Wisconsin (19-4, 10-3 in Big Ten) walked out of No. 17 Michigan State’s (17-6, 8-4) Breslin Center with an impressive 70-62 win Tuesday night, bringing UW back to a tie atop the Big Ten standings.

Wetlands are unique, important and beautiful landscapes that often go overlooked and unappreciated. Wisconsin was once home to 10 million acres of wetlands, but in the past 200 years, we’ve destroyed 50% of our wetlands. Three-fourths of Wisconsin's wildlife species rely on wetlands for survival, including a variety of threatened and endangered species such as Hine’s emerald dragonfly, a charismatic little bug with bright green eyes and amber wings.

Anyone who has ever talked to me probably knows that I watch a lot of films. If they have talked to me multiple times, then during one of those conversations I have probably confessed to them that I watch at least one film per day — sometimes more. This is usually when people become absolutely baffled, as they rarely ever come across someone who is as obsessed with films as me. It should not be surprising, considering that I come from a culture that worships cinema and puts its heroes on a pedestal. But, I digress.

The United States has a long history of imperialist policies that have resulted in the displacement of indigenous peoples. Following the country's independence, much of the belief of Manifest Destiny led directly to native tribes’ getting expelled from their land. As U.S. imperialism rose, the country formed treaties with tribes that have frequently been violated. Football fans around the country were pleasantly surprised when the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals pulled off close wins to advance to Super Bowl LVI. After years of blue-chip teams, people can either root for a team that was successfully sued by its own fans and the city of St. Louis or a place that’s known for making chili with spaghetti and being just over 100 miles from the hometown of Guy Fieri — a Las Vegas Raiders fan.

Maintaining and growing intimacy in a long-term relationship can be difficult when two people get very comfortable with each other and have a lot of history that impacts their current thoughts and feelings. Often in long-term relationships, the individuals within the relationship get resistant to change, insisting the other should be the one showing more effort. They each hold out, waiting for the other to prove their love. This creates a tense dynamic that is not conducive to intimacy and growth.

It came as no surprise last Thursday when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger retired from the National Football League after 18 years, all of which were spent with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Most beloved athletes retire to preserve their health or to spend more time with their families. In this case, it’s not the human family that’s being prioritized. Rather, Big Ben is opting to take advantage of the possibility of having more quality time with the birds that live in his nest-like beard.
