When No. 13 Wisconsin (1-0) fans highlighted this Saturday’s game against Michigan (1-2) on their calendar, they probably anticipated it would be among the teams most pivotal in the race to win the Big Ten West. And, while that remains the case, no one could have foreseen the circumstances leading up to the game for both teams.

As the hopes for our country’s future hang in the balance over the next seven days, it took a Netflix-led trip back in time on Saturday night — filled with protests, flower power and judicial combat alike — to remind me about why we should all be thankful to step up to the polls and cast our votes for the men and women who will help decide where our nation goes from here.

Heading into the Nov. 3 election, we are in crisis mode. Each day we are inundated with new, depressing messages about the coronavirus pandemic, the economic downturn and the pressure of partisan politics weighing us down as we attempt to float above waters, grasping for a breath of fresh air. Our grievances and futures are on the ballot this year.

With only days left until Election Day, we are not afraid to inundate your social media and our channels with voting PSAs. Whether you are a freshman who can now vote for the first time, a youth voter with some experience or an experienced alum who keeps up with our coverage, we believe it is our duty to mobilize voters into taking action. Voting is indeed a civic duty that must be taken seriously, especially in an election dubbed as “the most consequential in American history.”

Early voting began Tuesday and will continue through October on the UW-Madison campus. Thirteen designated in-person absentee ballot locations opened and subsequently caused some long lines and waits for students.

With face masks becoming a normalized requirement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many questions are being raised about the effectiveness of each different style mask. Some of the most commons questions asked during this time are "how can I properly care for my mask?" and "how many times can I reuse my cloth face mask?" The CDC and FDA have collected a significant amount of information regarding the cloth coverings.
