Trying to avoid accidental eye contact with the professor, I decided to sit near the back, but not so far back that it created a “This person doesn’t want to be here at all” vibe — whether or not that’s accurate is irrelevant.

Like many gamers over the past week, I have been playing Elden Ring, the new title from developer FromSoftware in the Dark Souls genre. While I have enjoyed much of my experience exploring the vast world and challenging the diverse array of enemies, I can't help but feel disappointed. Other reviewers have called it a masterpiece and, while I respect their opinion, I find it tough to agree whole-heartedly. Don’t get me wrong — the combat is fantastic and the world is incredible. It is an amazing game in so many ways, but, at the end of the day, Elden Ring did not make me feel like Spider-Man.

Football fans around the country were pleasantly surprised when the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals pulled off close wins to advance to Super Bowl LVI. After years of blue-chip teams, people can either root for a team that was successfully sued by its own fans and the city of St. Louis or a place that’s known for making chili with spaghetti and being just over 100 miles from the hometown of Guy Fieri — a Las Vegas Raiders fan.

I wouldn’t say I’m a pyromaniac, but I identify as a “pyro enthusiast”. I like to be the one to build the bonfire, set off a firework or even just light a piece of paper on fire and watch as it burns away to ash. However, as we know from Avatar: the Last Airbender, fire gets a bad rap. Why is the fire nation the villain? Isn’t it just as natural as water, earth and air?
