Minneapolis — Wisconsin freshman running back Jonathan Taylor took the first carry of the game up the middle, untouched for the first nine yards of a 13-yard run. It was a sign of what was to come for UW as it was pretty much over from there for the Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-7 Big Ten, 5-7 overall) in a 31-0 blowout.

Speedy Ortiz frontwoman Sadie Dupuis effused flower power on center stage Tuesday night. She wore a floral print top, a skirt and a flower pin in her hair, distancing her look from the dreary Madison weather. Her bright blue, bejeweled guitar stood out as it was fretted by Dupuis’s highlighter-orange and yellow nails. To her left, the black-and-blue-haired bassist wore black clothes and strummed with black nails, providing a stark contrast to the lead vocalist. A second guitarist and a drummer who provided backing vocals rounded out the indie quartet.

Entering this season, the Wisconsin Badgers’ secondary was the biggest question mark defensively as they had to replace three starters on the back end with questionable depth. Now, the only question about this group is just how good they can be.

Week 12 of college football has come and gone, and the annual matchup between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Minnesota Gophers is finally upon us. Not only is it a time-honored battle for Paul Bunyan’s axe, but this year it will play a crucial role in determining the Big Ten West division winner and potentially impact the college football playoff.

Sitting upon his throne made of the skulls of his vanquished foes while sipping from a goblet of virgin blood, Nick Saban gazed down on the unwashed masses before shifting his Chaos Lever into maximum overdrive.
