With the Wisconsin men's basketball team not having played
against an actual opponent yet, it is possible the team might still
have a few kinks to be worked out. That was not the case for the
Badgers Friday, as they took care of business, dominating their
Division III opponent, UW-Stout, 82-33.

The Wisconsin men's basketball team kicked off its preseason
festivities Tuesday, playing probably a tougher opponent than it
will play all regular season: itself.

The brainless arguments against writer-director Paul Greengrass'
stunning new docudrama United 93,\ the first major Hollywood film
to depict the events of Sept. 11, 2001, are reminiscent of an
episode of ""South Park."" The episode dealt with Jared the Subway
spokesman inadvertently making the town think he had AIDS, and once
the problem was solved, Stan and Kyle discovered that the touchy
issue was dated enough to be fair game for poking fun. Trey Parker
and Matt Stone got a lot of mileage out of ridiculing the
assumption that sensitive subjects cannot be tackled by art for an
unwritten but requisite number of years. Some rigorously
politically correct loudmouths, nearly all of whom have not
actually seen the film, have assailed ""United 93"" for being an
exploitative capitalist venture that is coming out way too soon.
This cynical criticism is as ignorant as it is frustrating and
laughable, as it not only presupposes that art is not capable of
being relevant or essential, but implies that it should not
be.

Scary Movie\ has become a movie monster in its own right—the
horrible beast that refuses to die. And with comedic triumphs like
""The Naked Gun"" and ""Airplane!"" behind him, director David
Zucker seemed like the perfect replacement for the Wayans brothers
at the helm of the ""Scary Movie"" franchise.

Bordwell. For more information, visit www.wifilmfest.org. Film
Fests and Madison: as Bogey once said, This looks like the
continuation of a beautiful friendship.\ Or something.

Eight points in a span of 8.9 seconds. That phrase is maybe the
worst thing I could hear in the world of sports other than, Andreas
Helmigk has the ball in the high post.\ In 8.9 seconds, my nearly
11-year-old world was turned upside down, and a villain—challenging
the infamous ranks of such rogues as Snidely Whiplash and the Iron
Sheik—was born.

The Badger Baloney is obviously fake news—merely a satirical
commentary on life in Madison. Except in the case of public
figures, the people are not real.

Amidst one of the toughest battles for the Big Ten title in
recent history, the UW men's basketball team (9-5 Big Ten, 19-8
overall) needs to finish strong to bring some momentum into the Big
Ten Tournament and ultimately, the NCAA tournament. Completing the
season on the road against an angry Michigan State (7-7, 19-9)
Thursday and Iowa Saturday will not make that task easy.

EVANSTON, ILL.'After practice Monday, the reporters fired
questions at Wisconsin coaches and players concerning how the
Badgers would attempt to contain Northwestern's senior forward
Vedran Vukusic. The question should have been, how does UW expect
to contain senior guard Mohamed Hachad?

Behind a frenzied sellout crowd of 17, 142 Wednesday night at
the Kohl Center, the Wisconsin men's basketball team rallied late
in the second half to a 78-73 victory over Ohio State. The Badgers
rode the strong play of junior forward Alando Tucker, who turned in
arguably his best all-around performance of the season, posting 27
points and a season-high 16 rebounds on the Buckeyes (7-4 Big Ten,
18-4 overall).

Wednesday night's showdown between the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in
the Big Ten standings, was everything one would expect from what's
been called the toughest conference in the country.

After a big victory, coaches often say 'A win is a win.'
However, for the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team,
(6-4 Big Ten, 16-7 overall) Wednesday night's 72-54 drubbing of
Indiana accomplished a lot more than just putting another 'W' in
the win column. It pulled them out of a five loss in six game slide
that not only threatened to drop the Badgers from the Big Ten title
race, but also from contention for the NCAA tournament.

The victory for the Badgers Wednesday night against the Hoosiers
was especially sweet, but not for the reasons one would think.
Sure, they won by 18 points; sure, it was against a conference
opponent; sure, this win broke the Badgers' first three-game losing
streak since head coach Bo Ryan began his tenure in 2001.

For the Badgers, a trip to West Lafayette, Ind. was supposed to
be a cure for what has been ailing them of late. Losers of four of
their last five coming into the game, a matchup with the last-place
Boilermakers looked to be a relatively easy victory that would snap
the Badgers out of their recent slump and keep them in the thick of
the Big Ten title race.

In the Badgers' 70-62 loss at Mackey Arena Saturday evening,
junior forward Alando Tucker played his usual starring role.
Shooting 8-for-17, Tucker paced Wisconsin with 22 points and
collected four offensive rebounds, while shooting a stunning
6-for-7 from the free throw line. Junior guard Kammron Taylor was
not his typical self, but managed to collect 11 points, playing the
entire game.

Things were looking up for the Wisconsin men's basketball team.
After losing three of their last four games, a layup by junior
forward Alando Tucker gave the Badgers (5-3 Big Ten, 15-6 overall)
an 11-point lead over No. 6 Illinois (6-2, 20-2) with just under 10
minutes remaining in the first half. Then the wheels fell off. The
Illini reeled off a 19 point run, crippling the Badger attack, en
route to a 66-51 victory at the Kohl Center.
