The Wisconsin men's soccer team (0-0 Big Ten, 3-3-1 overall) came
into this weekend's home stand hoping to rebound after a tough loss
to Virgina last week but that didn't pan out as the
Badgers planned, as the team went 0-2 on home turf, losing 3-2 in
triple overtime on Friday to UC-Irvine and 2-1 to
Memphis Sunday.

After advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament this
weekend by defeating UW-Milwaukee 2-1, the Badgers were defeated in
Milwaukee Sunday by third-seeded rival Marquette in a penalty
shootout.

In 2008, UW women's soccer head coach Paula Wilkins was working on
her first recruiting class for the Badgers, having left the dynamic
Penn State program to rebuild the program in Wisconsin. One of
Wilkins' first targets for the Badgers was Erin Jacobsen, a young

Illinois, the Wisconsin women's soccer team (3-0-2 Big Ten, 6-3-4
overall)extended its unbeaten streak to 10 and brought its shutout
streak to nine. The match, which ended 0-0 after 110 scoreless
minutes, including two overtime periods, left the Badgers in a sour
mood — one of displeasure at the missed opportunity for three
points.

Just three days after stifling a potent Minnesota offense to earn a
1-0 victory in St. Paul and ending the Gophers' 11-match unbeaten
streak, the Badgers resumed Big Ten play against Iowa on Sunday.
Despite the Hawkeyes dominating possession for long stretches, the
Badgers put forth a strong defensive effort and took their
opportunities well in the offensive third to walk away with a 2-0

After finding their form on the road last weekend in Tennessee, the
Wisconsin women's soccer team hopes to assert itself this weekend
during their trip to Indiana, where they will launch their Big Ten
campaign against Purdue and Indiana. Following a weekend that saw
two team members earn weekly conference honors, the Badgers are not
short on confidence and will be looking to extend their streaks of
four shutouts and three wins in a row.

The Wisconsin women's soccer team made the most of their
opportunities on the road this weekend and left the state of
Tennessee with wins over Tennessee and Vanderbilt to extend their
winning streak to three games. Laurie Nosbusch produced the
game-winning goal in each match, and the Badgers improved their
overall record to 3-3-2 to get back on track after going winless in
their first five matches.
