Recently, leaders in the Associated Students of Madison committed a
series of questionable actions that are cause for concern over
transparency in student government. A few weeks ago the registered
student organization Associated Free Thinkers Ensuring
Responsibility (AFTER) placed a full-page ad in The Badger Herald
urging students to vote against the United Council referendum.

I can't tell if I've recently become more disenchanted by politics
because of the nauseating number of corporate-funded attack ads or
the child-like exchanges between the Senate candidates in their
first two head-to-head debates. Either way, the race between U.S.
Senator Russ Feingold and GOP contender Ron Johnson has become
cynical and partisan, and I don't like it.
