Shooting reported at City-County Building, one injured

The Madison Police Department responded to a shooting which occurred outside the City-County Building Wednesday evening around 5:10 p.m. MPD confirmed that one person was injured in the shooting and has been taken to a hospital.

Officers are currently conducting an investigation on the 200 block of South Carroll Street where multiple shots were fired near an area where Dane County jail inmates are taken into the building.  

MPD has not yet taken anybody into custody for the shooting and has not released information about the potential identity of the shooter.  

The victim of the incident was taken to a hospital after suffering an unknown number of gunshot wounds. MPD has stated that an ambulance began to transport the victim shortly after the incident at 5:20 p.m.
