Several weapons violations keep Madison police busy over the weekend

A number of incidents involving weapons highlighted the weekend for Madison police, as well as multiple arrests for heroin possession.

The weekend started early when a man was arrested on State Street Thursday afternoon after he pulled a knife on a man during an argument and threatened to stab him. The police arrested him and found him to be carrying two knives.

On Friday night, police made two heroin-related arrests. The first incident involved a woman who overdosed in the bathroom of Ian’s Pizza. Police revived her using Narcan, a medication widely used by the police to counter the effects of opioids, and arrested her on charges of heroin possession and bail jumping.

Later that night, police found a woman in an altered state at the top of the Frances Street parking ramp. She was also arrested for heroin possession and bail jumping.

Saturday evening, police in south Madison responded to reports of a belligerent passenger on a Metro bus. The teenage suspect, who was a passenger on the bus, reportedly threatened to punch the bus driver and fought with officers once they arrived. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and a handgun. He was arrested and taken to jail on charges of marijuana possession, disorderly conduct, possession of a firearm, resisting an officer, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Early Sunday morning, two suspects were confronted in the Capitol City Market parking lot after a woman was reported to have been throwing bottles at a man who had bit her in the face. Both suspects had previously been involved in a altercation involving a knife. No charges were pressed following the incident, but the suspects were found to be in violation of their bail and were arrested for bail jumping.
