UW-Madison’s LGBT Campus Center has a new director, the Division of Student Life announced Tuesday.

Warren Scherer, who identifies as queer and biracial and uses the pronouns per and pers, has 19 years of experience working with LGBTQ+ populations and has previously worked at the UW-Milwaukee LGBT+ Resource Center and at Project Q, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center’s youth program, according to a university release.

Scherer said in the release that although it has been challenging to leave the community per worked with for nearly 10 years, per is excited to become a Badger.

“The newness and challenge of the transition, as well as the role it presents are exciting,” Scherer said. “Learning so much and sharing that knowledge throughout the journey adds to the excitement.”

Scherer began pers position as assistant dean and director of the center Tuesday.
