Drunken driver rear-ends car on Campus Drive

A 50-year-old pizza delivery driver was rear-ended near the 2000 block of Campus Drive Sunday at 10:35 p.m. by an intoxicated driver.

The victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, allegedly saw Elvis Boj Guzman, a 19-year-old Madison resident, operating his vehicle carelessly prior to the crash.

“The initial call to police was from a concerned citizen who just saw a driver ‘all over the road.’ The next call, three minutes later, was for the crash,” Madison Police Department Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain wrote in an incident report.

The impact left both cars severely damaged, and resulted in debris being spread across the road, according to the report. Both UW-Madison and MPD officers responded to the call.

Elvis Boj Guzman, who recorded a .25 on the breathalyzer test, has been arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and causing injury. Guzman was also issued several other citations, according to the report.
