Bicyclist hits car after running through stop sign

A bicyclist crashed into a car on Williamson Street after running through a stop sign early Tuesday morning.

The bicyclist, a 24-year-old man with no permanent address, was unconscious after going over the hood of the car, but his injuries were non-life threatening, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

The cyclist was not wearing a helmet when the accident happened. The driver, a 38-year-old Madison man, and a passenger gave him emergency treatment before the first responders arrived.

According to the motorist, he was headed west on Willy Street when the bicyclist appeared on Livingston, running through the S. Livingston Street stop sign at a high speed. The cyclist was given a citation for running the sign.
