Campus Master Plan moves toward 2017 completion

The sixth public open house for UW-Madison’s 2015 Campus Master Plan will be held Sept. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Varsity Hall in Union South, allowing community members another look at the plan as it continues toward completion.

The Campus Master Plan is created every 10 years, as required under state statutes, in a collaborative effort between the Facilities Planning & Management team and the university community. It aims to guide campus growth and development through enhancing green spaces, managing future building sites and addressing transportation, circulation and parking issues, according to its website.

The open house will center around the master plan’s theme of “Extending Our History and Embracing Our Future,” according to a Thursday university release. The plan’s consultants will speak about its major initiatives like building redevelopment, transportation, stormwater and green infrastructure and landscape development.

An hour-long, lecture-style format followed by a question-and-answer session will allow the public to interact with members of the plan’s committee, according to the release.

“The Campus Master Plan will guide us in our efforts to design a strong, sustainable future that honors the history, traditions and spirit of one of the world’s greatest universities,” said UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank in the release.
