?Man suffers minor injuries in campus-area hit-and-run

A Madison resident was not seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver at the intersection of West Johnson and North Bassett streets early Saturday morning.

The man, age 20, was struck by the car while at a crosswalk at 1:04 a.m., according to a Madison Police Department incident report. A witness told the police that the victim had the right of way when he was struck.

The witness also said the car slowed briefly after striking the victim and the driver stated, “Oh my god, I hit someone.” The car then sped away.

Police arrived at the scene to find the victim with only minor injuries. He was driven home by police after declining to go to the hospital.

The perpetrator of the hit-and-run has not been located. There is no information currently available about the car or its driver.
