The Madison Police Department arrested a Madison-area man after a witness reported the man pointed a handgun at another individual in the East Towne Mall parking lot Saturday afternoon.
Santiago J. Araiza-Font, a 20-year-old of Cottage Grove, was immediately pulled over by a police officer on scene, according to an MPD incident report. A BB pistol was found under the seat of his car.
Araiza-Font told police he pulled out the BB gun and twirled it on his finger so a friend in another car could take a picture of him to be posted on Snapchat. He denied pointing the gun at his friend or anyone in the parking lot.
He also said he mainly uses the BB pistol to shoot squirrels.
MPD arrested Araiza-Font for Disorderly Conduct While Armed, as well as Possession of Marijuana.
