Madison police respond to chase and battery on Stoughton Road

A Waunakee man struck another man with a piece of lumber near the Milwaukee Street exit ramp on Stoughton Road Wednesday, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

At approximately 12:19 p.m. the suspect, 30, stopped his pickup truck after recognizing the victim, 44, walking near the exit ramp, according to the report.

The suspect then grabbed lumber from his truck and chased the victim before striking him in the head and shoulders, MPD spokesperson Joel DeSpain said in the release. The victim believes he was briefly unconscious from the attack.

The suspect accused the victim of stealing in the past when they worked together, however the victim denies the charge, DeSpain said in the report.

Police have yet to locate the suspect, but stated in the report there is probable cause to arrest him for aggravated battery and disorderly conduct.
