MPD, UWPD involved in high-speed vehicular chase

UPDATE: Captain Joe Balles confirmed in a MPD incident report officers located and arrested two individuals from the fleeing vehicle, one of whom is believed to be wanted on an outstanding felony warrant.

Witnesses first observed the suspect vehicle near 2500 Chamberlain Avenue, according to the report. The chase occurred in the west and southwest side of Madison, and officers terminated the pursuit in the King James Way neighborhood in Fitchburg.

MPD does not believe anyone was injured and are still investigating the incident. Police hope to release the subjects’ identities and other relevant information Tuesday.

Original Story: Madison and University of Wisconsin-Madison police were involved in a high-speed vehicular chase through the west side of Madison Monday.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. the vehicular chase occurred through Madison on Raymond Road, according to UWPD Spokesperson Marc Lovicott and the UWPD twitter account. The chase ceased because “speeds were too dangerous to continue,” according to a tweet.

According to Lovicott, UWPD responded to a request for mutual aid from MPD.

“We were involved, and the pursuit ended,” Lovicott said. “We’re now assisting Madison police in looking for the suspects who were involved.”

We will continue to update as more details become available.
