Woman relocates stolen iPhone using tracking device

Following a multiple-day search, a 23-year-old Madison woman was reunited with her iPhone after it was lost or stolen Saturday morning at Genna’s Cocktail Lounge, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

The woman used her laptop to track the aforementioned iPhone to a home in Fitchburg, Wis.. A Madison police officer accompanied the woman to the Fitchburg home, where a 29-year-old resident presented the iPhone he claimed he found, according to the incident report.

The man first said he found the iPhone on the sidewalk, although he later renounced the statement and said he found it in a bathroom at the cocktail lounge, located on 105 W. Main St., according to the report.

The man used the stolen iPhone to accept a Facebook friend request he sent to himself from the woman’s account. The woman said to police she does not know the man, who was told by the police officer not to sustain contact with the woman, according to the report.
