Madison man kills brother Monday night

Fredrica Hanger, a 33-year-old Madison man, was shot and killed by Bonnell Hanger, his 39-year-old brother Monday night, according to a Madison Police Department press release.

At approximately 7 p.m. that evening, police arrived on scene at the 1300 block of East Wilson Street where Fredrica was found with gunshot wounds and sent to a local hospital, according to the release.

The shooting took place outside of Fredrica’s residence on East Wilson Street. Bonnell, does not live in the same neighborhood. Fredrica died following transport to a local hospital, according to the release. The autopsy took place Tuesday morning.

While the motive has not been released at this time, police confirmed that the victim’s brother was taken into custody when officers arrived at the scene, and tentatively charged with felon in possession of a firearm, according to the release.

Although the investigation is ongoing, police believe that this was a targeted incident and that there is no further threat to the Madison public at large.
