East Johnson Street traffic altered for three-week-long construction project

Construction work will cause road closures and lane reductions from March 31 to April 18 to install buried facilities on East Johnson Street at Butler, Hamilton and Livingston Streets.

Investor-owned utility companies including MG&E, ATC and Charter Communications will be involved in the construction to prepare the area for the East Johnson Street reconstruction project starting May 6, according to a city news release.

From March 31 to April 4, East Johnson Street will reduce to two eastbound lanes at the intersection on North Butler and North Hamilton Streets. All through-traffic will be closed at the north leg of North Butler Street.

Construction will continue on the weekends of April 4-6 and April 11-13 at the same intersection, but East Johnson Street will reduce to one eastbound lane, and the north legs of both North Butler and North Hamilton will be closed to through-traffic.

From April 7 to 11 and April 14 to 18, construction will take place at the intersection of East Johnson Street and North Livingston Street. East Johnson Street will reduce to one eastbound lane, and all through-traffic will be closed on the south portion of North Livingston Street.

The city expects traffic delays during afternoon hours throughout the installations.
